Some Ska-Lip-So

If you're anything like me, the banter on blogs plays a secondary role (except in rare cases) to the digital goodies you can download. Our podcast offers mixes and music in context, but maybe you wish to get your hands on some unmixed tracks and this blog shall grant that request.

To avoid problems, we'll probably keep songs to old records that only music nerds want. We will also only post things we purchased with our hard-earned dollars and will constantly encourage you to wander out and buy things as well.

So, here's a little record I tracked down at Play de Record on Yonge street. They used to have a 2nd hand record shop also, but it disappeared and that collection now rotates through their main store. To be truthful, this record ain't the best thing ever made, but there are one or two tracks that really show the potential of this ska and calyspo fusion. The best track on it is called Ethiopia and 'tis the one to be shared presently. The file size might seem a bit hefty for one song.... but it's to keep the audiophiles and disc jockeys pleased.

Whoopsidasies!

I forgot that I'd made a blog site. I was pretty excited about it too and today realized that people were listening to the podcast via El Mogblog, which I didn't anticipate.... considering I've ignored it since November and started it in October.

I thought I should just get a proper website, but it's so weird.... those require skills, time, money and effort to create and maintain. I've made several Deuce Bigalowy attempts to whore myself around to make cash, but I blew all that money on records and 18th century porcelain figurines to go on the mantle above the place where I want a fireplace to be.

Yes, triumphant returns often coincide with event promotion. The Augusta House will be filled up with our funky music nerdery next Friday (March 5th) and t'would be splendid to have you there! All 6 of you :)

We've all gotten very used to Facebook. It is a simultaneously brilliant and evil entity. There are moments where it seems like a creature that needs to be put down, dismembered and dropped off a boat to the bottom of a large body of water ala Dexter. It has probably eliminated countless runs, trips to the gym and has given procrastination an unprecedented level of power.

That being said, it seems that a lot of the new people who have entered our social spectrum have manifested themselves as a result of this here social networking site. It has been a great method of finding those around with compatible musical interests and personalities. Our minds have been blown up by some of the music, video and information posted by you on frequent occasions. Things really change when one makes homo-geographical contact. When status updates and cool Youtube postings balloon into humans at the club or in the street, it’s really something powerful.

Mass messages do give the sensation of breaching etiquette. It is easy to post with the frequency and vigor of teenage masturbation. We have attempted to mix impeccable grammar with relevant content if that’s any consolation. This message has been shot at 952 people. Most won’t even see it and many will regard it as spam that’s quickly exiled from their in-box. Others will see all the writing above this and abandon ship, leaving a rather small number who reach the end of the message. If you are one of them, it means you should send a message back… thus changing this from a message to a correspondence.

The music tonight will be unbeatable. The people will be almost as good or even comparable in quality ☺. The venue is suitable for both danceophiles and those who are yearning for a seated rump. There may be some guest list spots left for those who care for them.

The Augusta House Fiestas

There's a lot of things of which I'm not capable. There are numerous facets of life that have this soul confounded, bewildered and inept. However, in admitting one's flaws, it becomes less dastardly to openly admit your strengths. Putting together atypical yet rump-demolishing fiestas happens to be a nook within which I flourish. Above is a poster crafted by my love, it is an invitation to participate.

The Initial Smack

Just getting the blog-footing down. Learning, calibrating, clarifying and bushwacking for inspiration. Stephen Fry narrating the shagging of someone's noggin by a rare parrot falls under that category.
